Pipe & Dosing-Line Sizing

Enter the average flow, fluid and pipe material — get the standard DN, the actual velocity against the recommended band, the Hazen-Williams friction headloss, and the right electromagnetic flowmeter. Sizing the line first is what makes the flow-meter range selection meaningful downstream.

1Flow & fluid

Water mains: 0.6–1.5 m/s. Below 0.6 → sedimentation / stagnation; above 1.5 → erosion & water-hammer risk.

2Pipe & run length

Hazen-Williams is used for water & sludge (smooth-turbulent, the wastewater norm). For viscous chemical reagents switch to Darcy-Weisbach with the fluid viscosity — see the sheet.
