UF / MF Membrane Design — Reuse Polishing

Ultrafiltration / microfiltration is the membrane polishing step for reuse and strict discharge. Set the flow, flux and recovery — get the permeate rate, required membrane area, module count and TMP, with the feed SDI / turbidity limits that decide pre-filtration.

1Duty & membrane

UF 40–70 LMH, MF 30–60 LMH, recovery 85–95 %. Feed must be low-SDI — usually after sand/MBR.

2Feed quality & CEB

UF needs SDI < 3 (MF < 5) and low turbidity — that is why it sits after sand/MBR, not on raw sewage.

Order note

Quote the UF instruments at factory price

A UF skid is instrument-dense: permeate TMP and flow per rack, differential pressure, feed turbidity (SDI), level and CEB-dosing control. We supply them at the manufacturer's ex-works price — margin from the export rebate only.

Sources & parameter basis

[1]Metcalf & Eddy / AWWA — UF/MF for water reuse: recovery 85–95 %, SRT n/a (physical barrier).
[2]Module area: hollow-fibre UF ~40 m²/mod (vendor catalogues), MF ~30–60 m²/mod.
[3]Design flux UF 40–70, MF 30–60 LMH; TMP 0.3–1.0 bar; K=J/TMP (LMH/bar); viscosity ~2 %/°C.
[4]Feed limits: UF SDI < 3, turbidity < 5 NTU; MF SDI < 5, turbidity < 10 NTU — set by pre-filtration.
